Reliability is the probability of a product or a service with it performing its intended function for a specified period. The study of the concerned product or services’ reliability is known as reliability engineering. When it comes to categorizing the reliability engineering, it mainly is a sub-disciplined form of system engineering. Well the reliability engineering mainly consists of two major parts as follows:-

• Maintenance, and
• Maintainability.

Though these terms sound too close, yet they do possess some differences. Maintainability is the ease with which the product or services can be maintained whereas the maintenance is the process involved in keeping the product or services at par with its expectations. When it comes to the major focuses of  it, they are as follows:-

• Failure Costs associated with the downtime of the system.
• Spares Costs
• Costs of repairing
• Claims via personal and warranty.

Reliability Engineering, when under process, follows and depends on four key elements:-

• It is a probability-oriented program.
• It is generally predictable under intended operation.
• The concept of Reliability Engineering generally applies to certain specified period.
• When in operation, it stays applicable and restricted to certain stated conditions.

Besides, when undergoing Reliability Engineering, another term that stays much significance is the Reliability Program Plan. Technically speaking, the main objective of Reliability Program Plan or RPP stays stuck around improving the availability of a certain product. Well this is because the reliability of a product or services stays directly proportional to the availability and the quality of a product.
